Chasing Cricket
New York. New ballgame.
Every summer in NYC, cricket-crazy South Asian immigrant teens vie for glory — and their place in today’s America.
Every year, hundreds of South Asian immigrant teens from New York’s outer boroughs compete in a cricket championship run by… the NYPD.
For these young men, cricket is a community, a stage, and a bridge to the worlds they left behind. Following rival teams competing for the cup, this film offers a joyous portrait of another New York, where an outsider’s sport has taken root.
